What good is a backup service, which is not only unreliable, but even corrupts HD storage?
Here is a good explanation:http://www.wbadmin.info/articles/how-does-windows-server-2008-backup-work.html How do i escalate this a year and a half old issue to Microsoft ? You create this dedicated dump file by adding entries to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl. I moved the dedicated dump file to drive e:\ and the next reboot did the same to drive e:. Volsnap 25 I was monitoring it for a while and it generated 11 copies before they got deleted.
During normal Windows 2008 R2 file server server operation(writing files to the NTFS volume)Event 25 appears sporadicly and all snapshots are lost. Event Id 25 Volsnap Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V 2008 R2 backing up 26 Virtual Machines to DELL MD3200, 5TB disk. VSS has always been disabled, but i did have a couple of manual snapshots stored. Granted, had I been keeping attention, I would have actually swapped out the full drives before the actually got full, so that NO data was deleted.
The only problem with this kind of solution is that it effectively makes the exclusions invisible to anything which uses a VSS snapshot, so you may have to keep changing the Event Id 25 Windows Update Client Any updates on this? I can't really describe how bad a situation this has but us in. . . Please ensure that you have at least 10% free space on the source drives and then run the backup again.

Platform: Windows Server 2008 standard R2 with 4 hard drives. That isn't right. I already tried increasing the VSS storage (from 10GB to 48GB) and increasing MinDiffAreaFileSize to the recommended 5% of restore point storage allocated. http://gmailpush.com/event-id/volsnap-error-event-id-25.html Granted, had I been keeping attention, I would have actually swapped out the full drives before the actually got full, so that NO data was deleted. If I'm to continue using the
Very Disk IO intensive! Vss System Writer Timed Out Maybe this wasn't enough for BackupExec to be able to work with, so i cleaned it up to about 600 GB free space, and set the Minimum free space option for http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976618/en-us Maybe this tool will help "Microsoft Windows Dynamic Cache Service" Or maybe settingLowMemoryThreshold will be helpfull.
The event ID 25 is about deleting volume shadow copies for E drive. Thanks in advance. It will work fine for months then all of a sudden take hours. Event Id 25 Volsnap Windows Server 2012 Solution: This error is logged due to the source drive experiencing a high IO load and thereby it causes the shadow copy to dismount, as a result causing a backup failure.
But it had worked for a couple of months before, so why would it suddenly not be able to handle this load then? Like this:Like Loading... You can increase the limit using MaxShadowCopies registry entry. 0 Pimiento OP samcolman Jul 9, 2014 at 1:58 UTC I don't understand. check over here Consider reducing the IO load on the system or choose a shadow copy storage volume that is not being shadow copied.

This had worked fine for quite a while, but somehow it started failing now, with the following error in the Windows Event Log: Event-ID 25: Volsnap. I'll post if I get a response.
This seems to be caused by "VDS Basic Provider" with Event ID 1 "Unexpected Failure..." EDIT: got another process causing high IO load at boot. This solves the problem. I created a dedicated dump file instead of using the pagefile.sys for system dump files.
