You have now created your Google account but before you can start checking your emails there are some few things you should know about this great service.
Google Services have changed a lot since Gmail was first launched, now we have new tools that we can use with the same account we just created and link each other to make an easier life.
Now with the same information we can access and set up other services like our social media profile on Google Plus or start uploading and sharing videos at Youtube.
When it comes to security, changing your Gmail or Web Service password is something we all must do once in a while. There are many reasons to change a password and it’s a good practice, especially when you don’t even remember any “change” since you first signed up your account a few years ago.
Sometimes we need to update to a better protected and secured passcode and leave behind the weak one we started using Gmail. Now let’s go to the point and learn how to change your Gmail password:
Before changing your password, consider:
For security reasons make sure not to use the same or repeat the same password within the next months.
Never use personal information such as name, birth date, social security or ID’s, pet’s name or something easy for other to guess.
Don’t use simple passcodes like “abc123”, “12346” or “111222”. When 32 million passwords were exposed in a breach a couple of years ago, almost 1% of victims were using “123456.” The next most popular password was “12345.”
Never use the same password on every site or service you use the most such as email service; bank and social media.
Try to not use your password on computer you can’t control or unsecured WiFi connections (Airports, Malls, Coffe Shop)
Use shortcodes, sentences or phrases.
The best passwords are at least eight characters in length and use a combination of numbers, keyboard characters and upper- and lower-case letters.
The longer the password is, the hard is to crack.
Now that we are more than clear how to create secured password we can go and change your Gmail passcodes:
Click on Gmail Login at mail.google.com
Enter your username and current password, uncheck “Stay signed in” and hit “Enter”.
Once we access our service, we can now start making any change on our account. Go to “settings” and click on “Security”. There you have the option to “Change the password”.
Make sure to type in the current and new password twice and then hit “OK”.
Remember that your Google accounts are linked each other, so if you try to sign in to Youtube, Google Drive, Docs or Google Plus you need to use the new password you just put in.
As simple as that, now you have just changed your Gmail password for a better and stronger code.
Also remember that if you can’t think about how the new password can be, you can use a password generator online or use a combination of number, signs and capitalized letters.
One of the most popular password generator is https://www.random.org/passwords/, just put in the amount to generate, the character length and then click on “Get passwords” and there you go with a new and secured password you can use in Gmail.
To help remember the password, use it immediately. Then log in and out several times the first day. Just don’t change it on a Friday or right before leaving for vacation. You could write it out several times on a piece of paper. This helps record it in your mind. Just be sure to shred the paper when done

Since we are using web and mobile services online we are exposed to be hacked and that our personal information can be shared. Well, let´s put aside your Facebook profile where I guess you update information every minute, but before you do this just think about all the security tips you should know before browsing the web.
There are many ways to keep your Gmail account safe from hackers online, but now let´s take a read to this few lines of security tips we want to share:
If You´re not at home or work and you need to check your emails and messages, think about the risk to use somebody else computer or public wireless connections to login on your email or bank accounts. Most of the public Wi-Fi connections are not protected and are target for hacker attacks, so if you´re in a hurry just wait to get home and patiently read and use your Gmail account, especially when you have a business account.
Do you want to protect your files and information in your computer even your Gmail account? Surely you do, so first of all make sure you are safe at home and keep the latest antivirus version and update the database when available.
Don’t take the risk to lose your Gmail information such as passwords even when you´re at home.
Passwords are the first line of defense against cyber criminals. It’s crucial to pick strong passwords that are different for each of your important accounts and it is good practice to update your passwords regularly. Use a unique password for each of your important accounts like email and online banking
Choosing the same password for each of your online accounts is like using the same key to lock your home, car and office – if a criminal gains access to one, all of them are compromised. So don’t use the same password for an online newsletter as you do for your email or bank account. It may be less convenient, but picking multiple passwords keeps you safer.
Have you received email notifications stating that you have won the lottery? You have, right?
If you see a message from someone you know that doesn’t seem like them, their account may have been compromised by a cyber-criminal who is trying to get money or information from you – so be careful how you respond. Common tactics include asking you to urgently send them money, claiming to be stranded in another country or saying that their phone has been stolen so that they cannot be called. The message may also tell you to click on a link to see a picture, article or video, which actually leads you to a site that might steal your information – so think before you click!.
You can toggle between your Google Accounts easily and quickly, both on desktop and on mobile. For example, you can add a secondary Google Account when you’re signed in on your main account and switch back and forth between them, just remember that personal information from one Google Account is not combined with information from any other Google Account, unless you decide to link those accounts together.
So far we have reviewed some security tips you should consider to protect and create secured passwords at Gmail or any other web base service.
